Choose Healthy Ideas

1. I will quit smoking or quit exposing myself to second hand smoke.

2. I will make it more difficult for my friends to smoke. "Outside, please." "Not in my car."

3. I will decrease my food intake by watching--and measuring--a single serving (on the box or can.) Non-packaged and restraunt food can frequently be found online at sites like caloriecount.about.com. Overweight people tend to over-estimate the size of one portion and under-estimate how much they are eating.

4. I will not order large, extra large, or super-sized food or calorie filled drinks.

5.  If I drink alcohol, I will have a designated driver pre-arranged every time, even if I think I won't have too many.

6. I will buckle my seatbelt each and every time.

7. I will do something I enjoy just for me every day. Even if I have only 10 minutes, I will make a cup or tea, read a magazine, look at the stars, or do nothing.

8. I will put each of my joints from the neck down through it's individual range of motion (up, down, right, left, and a circle) each day.

9. I will walk or pedal or wheel myself somewhere for at least 10 minutes each day.

10. I will sleep at night in my bed (not in a chair or on the couch) in the dark (without the TV on) for at least 6 ½ hours each night.

11. I will have a time of silence each day during which I thank God for my blessings and pray for strength to get through tomorrow.

12. I will start each day expecting something special!
