While you may be the salt of the earth, to those people around you, excess salt is not good for you. Your body needs about 4 grams of sodium cloride [salt] per day. Garlic salt and celery salt etc are other sources of sodium that you don't need. Choose the power version of these spices. If you have kidney problems, you should avoid salt substitutes that contain potassium, such as "No Salt"
Foods taste better with salt on or in them, because our taste buds are used to the salt we consume every day. If you avoid as much salt as you can, your taste buds will adjust. It takes about six weeks.
