Hospice Care is NOT just for Patients with cancer! Anyone with an illness or chronic disease so severe that death appears inevitable within 6 months is eligible. Your doctor can certify your illness. (There is no penalty if the estimate is not correct, but you may be discharged from hospice if you improve beyond expectations.)

HCI Care Services (formerly Hospice of Central Iowa) has an office in Knoxville. They have a heritage dating from the 1980s.
Iowa Hospice is a relatively new hospice. The name is NOT a shortcut for Hospice of Central Iowa, but is a separate organization. This has been confusing for our patients.
Iowa Health Hospice is an organization working under the auspices of Iowa Health, a component of the Methodist Hospital System in Des Moines.
Don't wait until you are on your death bed to call Hospice! The hospice nurses can help you and your family with medications and supplies. The social worker can arrange for volunteers and help your loved ones cope. The chaplin can offer you spiritual support. The sooner you call, the sooner you can experience the benefits of Hospice care.
