Vickie is our CLIA-Waived Laboratory Manager. She has previously worked as a phebotomist (blood-drawing person) in Des Moines for the Iowa Clinic. This job change will free her from long daily commutes, save on gas, and allow her to sleep in---once her body gets used to it. We are glad to to have her as an addition to the Other Medical Clinic. She is offering blood drawing services right here at our clinic--even if you have "rolling veins," "veins that break," or if you have been labeled as a "hard stick."
Our Laboratory technician has lots of responsibilities! We do all the CLIA waived tests right in the clinic. Currently these include urines, mono-spots, strep screens INR, HbA1C, and LIPID Panels. Most of the time we can give you your results before you leave the office! (Click for more information about your 2011 lab work.)
Our lab director is in charge of calling you or mailing your laboratory results from these so called, "send out labs", once I review them. The results will be entered into your chart automatically once they are reviewed. We can make graphs and charts so we, and you, can compare your results from prior tests and monitor your progress. Cool, huh?
Soon, you will also be able to log in to get your own results, see some of your chart, make laboratory appointments all on line if you wish.
You have or will probably notice that our lab manager also reminds you if you have tests that should be done. These tests are based on your health conditions, life style, family history and medication list.
